Tonic Polish Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe

Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe was released one week ago by Iowa-based indie polish maker Tonic Polish as part of the Unicorn Pee collection and as a custom polish for the Tonic Polish Facebook group. Creator Lindsey describes it as a warm-toned violet creme filled with the red-to-green colorshifting shimmers known to polish enthusiasts as "unicorn pee." The color is a perfect medium-toned floral lavender, a creamy, semi-translucent amethyst purple shade bearing beaucoup red-to-green colorshifting shimmers, visible on the nail as a stealthy, glowing red mist within the base in bright ambient light and as a blanket of delicate red sparkle in the sun.

Application was wonderful. The consistency of Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe is fluid and creamy with a medium viscosity and a fluent, smooth, self-leveling glide over the nail. Pigmentation is very good. Some translucence on the first coat builds easily to evenly opaque coverage with the second. I added a third to see if it would make a difference and I think it did deepen the color slightly and add a bit more density to the look. Cleanup is easy. Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe dries naturally in very good time to a beautiful glossy finish. Topcoat serves to accentuate the presence and effects of the colorshifting shimmers.

Photos show three coats of Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe over basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite. My camera skewed a little bit to blue in the ambient light shots.

This polish has a great name, no? Especially for a group custom, very cool. Lindsey did an excellent job balancing the creaminess and opacity of the color with the delicate colorshifting unicorn pee shimmers -- the effects are subtle but add extra warmth and richness to the look. And, of course, there's that gorgeous fine red sparkle in the sun, which you can't miss. Well done!

love,
Liz
