ILNP Beach House

Beach House was released last month by Nevada-based indie polish maker ILNP as part of the Summer 2017 collection. Described as an aqua-blue, this polish is part of ILNP's Ultra Holo line up, "specifically formulated for maximum, in-your-face holographic sparkle," and does it ever deliver!

The color here is like a convergence of process cyan, blue-green, Caribbean green and cerulean, a bright, tropical medium-toned variation of turquoise that, to my eye, lies in between the web color dark turquoise and pearl mystic turquoise in hue. Superabundant holographic pigment in a variety of iterations from particles to microflakes give it luminous, chromatic dimensionality on the nail, with a mobile golden-green prismatic flush, a sparkly flecked visual texture and a glistening, semi-metallic underlay in pale sea green. The color brightens noticeably in the sun, where a brilliant, slightly dispersed but still recognizably linear holographic flare in all of the rainbow colors emerges from a field of dazzling prismatic sparkle.

Application was fantastic. The consistency of Beach House is fluid, light and smooth with a medium viscosity and an easy, fluent, self-leveling glide over the nail. Pigmentation is evenly sheer on the first coat and wearably opaque with a bit of visible nail line after the second. It's definitely at its best in three coats, with full, rich bottle color and maximized holographic effects. Cleanup disperses holographic microflakes over the nail environs, but most of them will disappear with a good handwashing. Beach House dries naturally in very good time to a smooth shiny finish. Topcoat does not in any way inhibit the holographic properties of this polish.

Photos show three coats of Beach House over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite. The color of the polish skews slightly to blue in these pics -- there's a touch more green to it in person.

The wealth of holographically-generated blues and blue-greens in this polish is amazing, very reminiscent of shallow tropical seas, and the sparkle in the sun is just tremendous! It's hard to know which to admire first, the holographic effects or the color. I know that some are disappointed that it's a three-coater, but look at what you get! Definitely worth it.

If you're interested to see how Beach House compares to some of ILNP's other tropical blue-greens, Edina of lakkomlakkom has a side-by-side swatch photo of it next to Harbour Island and Bermuda Breeze in her review of this collection, here.

love,
Liz
