Chirality Cosmos

Cosmos was released in April this year by Arizona-based indie polish maker Chirality Polish as part of the Mosura no Uta collection, a set of four polishes that I'm guessing was inspired by the character of Mothra from the Japanese kaiju film genre. I could be way off base here, but I had to take a stab at it! *lol* I learned long ago that with Amanda, owner and creative force behind Chirality and self-proclaimed science nerd, there's always way more going on behind the polish than you could possibly grasp from a cursory investigation.

Amanda describes Cosmos as "an olive green holo with scattered green iridescent glitter." To my eye, the color is a creamy medium-toned moss green, a rich yellow-green similar to olive but a little fresher and not quite so heavy. Abundant finely-milled holographic pigment gives the polish a delicately grained visual texture and reads as gold within the base, creating a golden shimmery look. Holographically-generated hues of laurel, golden olive and misty cerulean nuance the color in ambient light and a sprinkling of iridescent glitters flash in bright hues of green and blue-green when the light hits them just right. In the sun, there's a sparkly linear prismatic flare predominated by slender arcs of azure and green that frame a lick of bright, gleaming gold.

Application was lovely. The consistency of Cosmos is fluid, creamy and dense with a medium viscosity and a smooth, even, self-leveling glide over the nail. Pigmentation is very good, delivering evenly opaque coverage in two coats. Cleanup is easy, although those tiny glitters do like to stick. Cosmos dries naturally in very good time to an ever-so-slightly textured finish that is easily smoothed with a layer of topcoat.

Photos show two coats of Cosmos over basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

Gorgeous!

It's been several years since I featured Chirality here, but Cosmos displays all of the complexities of coloration and subtle holographic beauty that I always loved about Amanda's creamy holos, and it's just as carefully formulated and paintable as I remember. Greens from Chirality were the favorites of my niece Eleanor back in the day, and I'm sure she would love this one also. I know I do!
