Different Dimension Resfeber

Resfeber (English pronunciation: reece-FEE-ber, or thereabouts) was released last month by Indiana-based indie polish maker Different Dimension as part of the Wanderlust collection, a fantastic set of seven holographic polishes named with uncommon travel-related words that was inspired by creator Missi's desire to travel. Resfeber comes from the Swedish word meaning "the restless race of a traveler's heart before a journey" or "tangled feelings of anxiety and anticipation."

Officially described as a "lush scarlet holo with contrasting added shimmers," the color here is a deep cool-toned purple-leaning rosy berry kind of shade, almost a magenta but with more red to it, very like Pantone's rose red. Abundant holographic pigment creates dimensionalizing hues of violet, claret and red-violet within the base in ambient light and adds a lot of fine sparkle to the look. I believe the added shimmers must be golden, as the glistening red underlay and flash have a golden sheen to them. And in the sun there's a brilliant linear display dominated by an arc of glowing indigo edged with a compact corona of bright prismatic sparks.

Application was fabulous. Like the other Wanderlust polishes I've tried, Resfeber is beautifully formulated. The consistency is fluid, creamy and dense with a medium viscosity and a plush, velvety, self-leveling glide over the nail that has a bit of pull to it. Pigmentation is outstanding, with evenly opaque coverage in a single medium coat, although I used two for this manicure to make the most of the polish's holographic properties. Cleanup is straightfoward with a bit of pigment travel but very little residual staining. Topcoat does not interfere with the holographic effects in any way that I could tell.

Photos show two coats of Resfeber over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

Such a vivacious, feminine color, and the prismatic effects are just splendid! This will make a wonderful after dark red too as the rosy golden sheen really glows under incandescent light.

  1. That seems to be a wonderfully complex polish. Your photos are outstanding! Love the various shifts of red/berry/violet/magenta it goes through, depending on the lighting and angle. And accompanied by the pretty blue elements in the flame, not to mention that underlying golden shimmer.
Polishes like this make me go off into fantasy land where there are really truly polish chemicals and stuff, but magical creatures toiling over a boiling pot, gleefully tossing in various ingredients and, then, to finish and complete the transformation, a delicate pinch of some fabulously rare element... and Voila! This polish!

    1. Thanks, Lara! This is one of those holos that is perfect in every way. Even if I could, I would change nothing. Just an outstanding polish.

Love your imagination! I have a fantasy about tiny brilliant little polish faeries coming and coloring my nails as I sleep. I wake up to a magical manicure!
