Different Dimension Novaturient

Like Fernweh, Novaturient was released towards the end of last month by Indiana-based indie polish maker Different Dimension as part of the Wanderlust collection. All of the polishes in this series were named with uncommon travel-related words. Novaturient means desiring or seeking powerful change in one's life.

Creator Missi describes this polish as a "dark caramel/milk chocolate linear holo," and it really does remind me of melted milk chocolate. It's a warm, luxurious, creamy medium-dark brown with plenty of holographic pigment creating the finely-grained visual texture common to creme holos as well as a fine prismatic sheen on the surface of the polish. Gentle hues of violet add a subtle dimensionality. I won't get to see or shoot this polish in the sun today, but I imagine there would be a sweet prismatic flare in direct light.

Application was fantastic -- Novaturient has a superb formula. The consistency is fluid, creamy and dense with a medium viscosity and a buttery, self-leveling glide over the nail, so nice! Pigmentation is outstanding. This is a solid one-coater. I used two coats for this manicure because I always do with a holographic polish but this is one holo that really doesn't need that second coat. Cleanup is easy. Novaturient dries naturally in very good time to a beautiful glossy finish. Topcoat does not appear to affect the holographic properties in any way.

Photos show two coats of Novaturient over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

This polish attracted a lot of attention during a visit to my local CVS. It's really quite showy and the beautiful rich color earned me two compliments, huzzah!

  1. Wow - what a beauty! Brown polish usually doesn't have a draw for me but this one is so unusual - in a good or great way.
When I first saw the polish, my immediate reaction was 'Cordovan' for some reason. I know it's not anywhere near that color. Maybe I associate Cordovan with luxury and this polish does have a very luxurious vibe! Regardless, this polish is truly outstanding.

    1. *lol* Great minds! I also thought of cordovan when I was thinking about the color of this polish. Cordovan is slightly darker, with a certain rosiness to it. Luxurious leather! I also thought of tobacco. There's that warm golden quality to the brown.

I was really surprised by how luxe and showy this is on the nail. It's kind of like a red in that respect.
