Girly Bits Anniversary Crashers

Anniversary Crashers was released last month by Canadian indie polish maker Girly Bits as part of the What Really Happened in Vegas 2016 collection, a fun series of polishes documenting various off-site events, planned and impromptu, during the week of CosmoProf North America this year. As creator Pam says, "Sometimes the names are obvious, and sometimes it's an inside joke. But those who were there always look forward to seeing if any of their shenanigans ends up with a namesake polish." Here is the back story for Anniversary Crashers:
Good friends of ours were in Vegas at the same time as CPNA celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. As fate would have it, we were all free on the actual evening of their anniversary and reveled in the once in a lifetime opportunity to be able to be with them on both their wedding day and their wedding anniversary 30 years later.
This polish is a full coverage microglitter bomb with a mix of yellow gold, deep blue and holographic gold microglitters suspended in a clear base with added gold flakes. I'm not normally one for gold polishes but I couldn't pass up these lemony yellow metallic microglitters mixed with blue, it's one of my favorite color combinations. Add holographic gold and you have yourself a sparklefest, especially in the sun! The overall appearance resembles a sandy, semi-metallic citrine shade in ambient light, twinkling with tiny sparks of yellow, blue and random prismatic colors. Direct sun intensifies the presence and colors of the glitters, blanketing the nail in a radiant mini-mosaic of blue, yellow and gold that combines to add a transparent blue-green glow to that brilliant glitterbomb sparkle.

Application was wonderful. The consistency of Anniversary Crashers is fluid, light and remarkably smooth for a glitter-laden polish, with a medium viscosity and a fluent, even, self-leveling glide over the nail, a user-friendly formula that goes on without any tumbling, stacking, stickups or other antics. Coverage is very good, delivering wearable opacity in two or three coats depending upon application and preferences. I used three coats for this manicure. Cleanup is easiest to do as you go along while the polish is wet. Anniversary Crashers dries naturally in very good time to a sandy-textured finish. For a glitter-under-glass look, I applied a layer of gel-effect topcoat before finishing up with a layer of Seche Vite.

Photos show three coats of Anniversary Crashers over treatment and basecoat topped with a layer of Pretty Serious Plump Up the Volume followed by a final topcoat of Seche Vite.

As I'm sure you can guess, the sparkle is tons livelier in person. I love the crazy dazzle of glitterbombs, and this one has an especially unusual and beautiful combination of glitter colors. The inclusion of blue and bright yellow makes it more wearable for me than a straight gold. Awesome!
