Emily de Molly Revival

Revival was released in November 2015 by Australian indie polish maker Emily de Molly (EdM). Creator Hayley describes this as a dark pink-based red holo, and I agree. The color is a deep, saturated variation of magenta with aspects of mulberry and raspberry rose, something along the lines of Pantone's magenta or telemagenta from the RAL color matching system. Finely-milled holographic pigment gives it a rich, delicately-speckled, demi-Pointillist appearance and creates shifting hues of violet, wine, deep red and translucent misty lavender pink within the base in ambient light. In the sun, there's a fantastic, fully-linear prismatic display comprising all of the rainbow colors in a sparkling flare around a central lick of gleaming semi-metallic silvery magenta.

Application was dreamy. The consistency of Revival is fluid, light and silky smooth with a thin-to-medium viscosity and a veritable float over the nail, on par with Hayley's consistently excellent, eminently paintable formulas. It likes to go on in thin coats and self-levels like nobody's business. Pigmentation is outstanding, delivering evenly opaque coverage in a single coat, although you'll want a second to make the most of the polish's holographic potential. Cleanup was much easier than I expected -- only a skosh of pigment travel and little residual staining for such a saturated shade, hooray! Revival dries naturally in very good time to a beautiful glossy finish. Topcoat does not affect the holographic properties of the polish in any way.

Photos show two coats of Revival over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

As perfect a linear holographic polish as you could ever hope to see, with a formula to match! You really can't go wrong with one of Hayley's holos!

love,
