Octopus Party Nail Lacquer Bermuda High

Bermuda High was released in June last year by Connecticut-based indie polish maker Octopus Party Nail Lacquer (OPNL) as part of the Summer 2015 collection. It is officially described as a cherry linear holo, and I agree. The color is a medium-dark cerise in a jelly formula, a deep rosy reddish pink with aspects of alizarin crimson. Ultrafine holographic pigment gives this polish a shimmering underlying sheen of electric raspberry and nuances the base color with a rich dimensionalizing melange of analogous hues: Spanish crimson, amaranth, French raspberry, red-violet, misty rose pink. The base color warms to bright reddish watermelon in the sun, and there's a gorgeous linear prismatic display with a central flare of glowing violet edged by a luxuriant corona of tiny sparks in blue, green, yellow, orange and bright red before shading to a vibrant alizarin crimson at the edges of the nail. 

Application was most agreeable! The consistency of Bermuda High is fluid, light and super smooth with a medium viscosity and a buttery self-leveling glide over the nail. Pigmentation is very good, delivering completely even, opaque coverage in two coats. I almost stopped at two but then added a third just because I could and do think it deepened the color a touch, but wasn't necessary unless you are like me and feel compelled to squeeze every juicy drop of color out of this rich reddish pink. Cleanup was fairly easy with almost no pigment travel to speak of and just a whisper of residual staining where I flooded a sidewall. Or two. Maybe three. Shaky hands! Bermuda High dies naturally in very good time to a gorgeous glossy finish. Topcoat does not inhibit the holographic properties of this polish in any way.

A precocious little holo, and so photogenic! Luckily I was in a relatively decisive mood when culling photos for this post, waffling over pics is exhausting. 

This is a beautiful reddish pink for summer, no? In an interview with Nail It! magazine last August, Dave mentioned it as one of his bestsellers. Still going strong in the restocks a year later!
