Elevation Polish Storm in the Morning Light

Storm in the Morning Light was released by indie polish maker Elevation Polish as part of the Journey Told Through Music collection in January 2015. Lulu describes this one as a "light slate grey blue," and tells us it will look more blue or grey depending on the wearer's skin tone. I think it is a perfect example of a light creamy cadet grey, and will add that lighting also effects how blue or grey it appears. Here in my dim office, it pulls more blue, but in my lightbox bathroom it pulls more grey. I adore the blue in this shade! It adds a rare fresh quality to the grey, a little twist that livens up this soft seemly neutral color and makes it especially nice for spring, although I would certainly wear this year round.

Application was great. The consistency of Storm in the Morning Light is fluid, creamy and smooth, with a velvety glide over the nail and very good self-leveling properties. In the application notes about this polish, Lulu warned of patchiness on the first coat, but I didn't experience this. Then again, I tend to use medium to medium-thick coats with most cremes so perhaps the patchiness is a thin coat phenomenon. Storm in the Morning Light is less amenable to finagling than other Elevation cremes I've experienced, with a bit of ghosting at the edges if they aren't perfectly aligned and some unevenness after fixes and patches that smooths out with topcoat. Pigmentation is excellent, with near opaque coverage in one coat and completely even opacity in two. Cleanup is a snap. Storm in the Morning Light dries naturally in good time to a glossy finish.

Photos show two coats of Storm in the Morning Light over Seche Rebuild treatment and Pretty Serious All Your Base basecoat with a somewhat bubbly topcoat of Seche Vite.

So sleek and glossy! Along with taupe, grey is one of my favorite neutrals. It plays so well with just about any color you pair with it, and is such a gentle kind of complement.

In the gym, where the lighting has this magical ability to spotlight the true character of a polish, Storm in the Morning Light was bluer than it appears here in my photos. It looked exactly like the photos in Dani's Manis' post featuring this collection.

love,
Liz
