Butter London Sprog

Sprog was released by Butter London in 2012 as an Ulta exclusive.  It's a pretty, if not all that unusual, semi-pastel periwinkle blue creme with a cheerful vibrant air to it. Of the many polishes that I've seen described as periwinkle, this is one that to me is very true to the flower in color. It's pale azure with a lavender soul that shows itself more in shade and dim light. It's also got a bit of translucence that adds to it's luxe milky look and lets in the light to give it a brightness boost on the nail.

Application was sehr gut! The consistency is fluid, light and silky. It has good self-leveling properties and a nice flow over the nail. Pigmentation is also good with some sheerness on the first coat that builds nicely to completely even opacity after a second. Although it may look like it would be, it's not the least bit chalky and does not have the patchiness or dragging that you sometimes get with colors like this, but I'd recommend letting the first coat dry before applying the second. Cleanup is a snap. Sprog dries naturally in average time to a sweet glossy finish.

Photos show two coats of Sprog over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite. Chagrins du jour: I still don't seem to be able to apply le Vite without churning a few bubbles into it in the process, and please pardon the hair that attached itself to my left ring finger nail for the photos. After months of scraggly facial hair John has taken to trimming his beard on an almost daily basis and I blame that hair on him. I mean, it's either John or the cat, one. Both enjoy inserting themselves into whatever may be going on in provocative ways so one's as likely as the other to be responsible.

This polish has a very "Essie" feel to me... Lapis of Luxury or the Tom's One Day Without Shoes charity give-away Essie Barefoot in Blue? I suspect it would traditionally fall into the spring spectrum of nail color if you're seasonally inclined, but it looked at ease and right at home on my nails today.

In LackerSlackerLiz news, my Crow'sToes Tiki Torch post has apparently been selected for an automated spamming campaign by persons unknown out there on the internet. At a rate of at least 100 times a day, every day, nonsensical generic type comments, each with an included link (which I don't dare click on), are submitted to that post. Luckily, Blogger will not publish any comment with a link, but I still get an email notification every time one of them is submitted. This has been going on for well over a month. Actually it's more like going on two months now, judging by the view count for that post which is heading toward 5300 views as I type this. Besides trashing my statistics, not that I use them for anything beyond satisfying my own curiosity, all the email from blogger alerting me that Anonymous has submitted a New Comment is getting very tiresome. I've sent feedback to Blogger but I have a hard time expecting any kind of individual attention from them even though this campaign is taking advantage of their comment notification set up to spam ME.

Since I preview my email on the server before downloading it to my mac, I can easily delete the notifications so they don't get anywhere near my system but this is getting old. If you have any advice or experience in this area, I could use some help figuring out how to deal with this. Beyond ignoring and deleting the said emails, my only strategy so far has been not to click on the links. That's it. I guess I could reinstate the "prove you're not a machine" procedure for comments, but what a drag to have to do that.

love,
Liz

    1. OMG that is so exactly right! It is mellow. Not too sweet, not too languid. I love it when the perfect word comes along! Thank you, Yun!
