Cirque Vesuvius

Vesuvius was released by indie polish maker Cirque as part of the Arcus collection for summer 2013. Described as a strawberry red, I see it as a medium rosy reddish pink linear holo with a fine coppery flash in shade and a brilliant linear prismatic display in direct sun. The color is deliciously nuanced by pink, purple and orange from the holographic pigments in all lights. Beauty!

Application was a delight. As with other Cirque polishes that I've experienced, the consistency of Vesuvius is fluid, creamy and dense. It applies smoothly and evenly with excellent flow over the nail and superb self-leveling qualities. Pigmentation is very good with completely opaque coverage in two coats. Cleanup is easy and straightforward. This is one of those polishes that provides such a satisfying application experience that you're nearly bound to love it for that alone. Vesuvius dries naturally and thoroughly in very good time to a slightly flat finish that loves a good topcoat to enhance the gorgeous color and provide a glassy finish.

Photos show two easy coats of Vesuvius over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Glisten and Glow HK Girl.

This is such a nice polish. I love the color, it's actually very soft, feminine and floral apart from the blazing prismatic display, and has a graceful, companionable feel on the nail. The chromatic complexity added by the holographic pigments is exquisite and stealthy, most noticeable upon close inspection but registering subtly at midrange as well, so you don't have to plaster your eyeball to your nail to enjoy the special effects of this beautifully composed holo. Of course, once you get this puppy in the sun all bets are off -- the fantastic rainbow of color throws all subtlety to the wind!

I plan to wear this one for a couple of days and enjoy every minute of it!

love,
Liz
