Cult Nails Deal With It

Deal With It was released by indie polish maker Cult Nails as part of its Coco's Untamed collection in July of 2012. It's a medium-light electric spring green jelly loaded with finely milled golden shimmer, nearly a neon but much more convivial and more conventionally beautiful than neons tend to be. It's actually so beautiful that the shock value that often accompanies really bright greens goes almost unnoticed, as I discovered when I showed this color to Fuzzy. Not known for her unwavering delight in green nail polish, she responded to Deal With It with unabashed admiration: Oh! What a nice green! That, my dears, is a triumph.

Application was lovely. This polish has a fluid, sheer formula that is easily controlled and lays down smoothly over the nail. It goes on quite evenly for a sheer polish, and self-levels nicely as well. Coverage is buildable. I used three coats for completely opacity but shorter nails could easily get by with two. Even with some visible nail line, the even coverage and gorgeous color ensures a great looking manicure. Cleanup is easy and straightforward, although I didn't do such a stellar job of it today. Deal With It dries naturally in good time to a satiny semi-matte finish, possibly due to the inclusion of neon pigments in the formula.

Photos show three coats of Deal With It over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of HK Girl.

How fresh and clean and quintessential is that? The abundant fine golden shimmer is the perfect complement to the vibrancy of the color and nuances it beautifully over the contours of the nail. It has a lush juicy look that is just bursting with energy and seems almost lit from within. At the same time, though, there's a dose of cool measured serenity to this polish that creates a kind of plush self-possessed sense of anticipation....

Gah, the awesomeness of this polish has reduced me to babbling. A sure signature of greatness!

love,
Liz
