Pretty Serious Viscous Vampire

Today's Pretty Serious polish is Viscous Vampire from the Monster Mash collection for Halloween 2012. Viscous Vampire has a medium-dark well-pigmented electric crimson jelly base packed with small hex glitters in tomato red, fuchsia microglitters and silver mini microglitters. I love the combination of tomato red and fuchsia components with the near fluorescence of the maraschino cherry base, it's just an awesome analogous color troika and SO HOT!

Application was great except I got a little scared of the color and proceeded to get it everywhere, including the white painted tub surround in the bathroom where I do all my manicures. How's life in the palace, Grace? Anyway, the consistency of Viscous Vampire is very fluid, slightly oily and dense with glitters. It applies smoothly even so, with an even distribution of components across the nail. Cleanup is tricky if you make a mess like I did, as this red can stain cuticles and skin. It just takes a bit more time and care than a non-stainer, and then more time to let the polish dry enough to survive a thorough handwashing. Pigmentation is excellent for a jelly, with complete opacity in two coats. Viscous Vampire dries naturally in good time to a slightly flat mostly smooth finish with some texture to it from the components.

Photos show two coats of Viscous Vampire with a topcoat of HK Girl. In retrospect, it could have used an additional layer of topcoat.

I'm not sure my photos do justice to this brilliant fiery bon bon, and I'm prepared to direct you to to photos that do. Pretty Purple Polish did a fantastic job capturing the dimensionality of the colors at play, here. The Lady Varnishes has a gorgeous portrait of Viscous Vampire, here. And Sassy Paints has some super pics of how it looks on her magnificent stiletto nails, here.

If you love red polish or are looking for a red that's super bright and sassy, I highly recommend this one. It positively glows! I imagine it would make a fabulous summer pedicure. And Thithi, here's your "red deep and squishy" with a little glitter into the bargain!

love,
Liz
