My bottle of DS Magic looks like it was rode hard and put up wet. The silver top has been trashed into tarnishdom from handling. I got it on ebay (back before I knew about the precautions one should take before buying OPI polishes there) and while I am certain that the polish is authentic, the exterior appearance would certainly catch a skeptic's eye. This bottle may well be from an off lot that was discarded from mainstream distribution because of inferior packaging materials, that is, the aforementioned degraded silver top. The polish inside the bottle is true to everything I've seen and read about it. That said, if I saw this particular polish offered at auction on ebay now I would probably give it a pass.
The formula and consistency of this brilliant blue spellbinder are both excellent. The flecks are the opacity load-bearers in the mix, so it takes at least two coats for good opaque coverage. My bottle does not have the pro-wide brush. The highly pigmented duochrome base in which the flecks are suspended is responsible for the color-shifting character of this polish and for all the difficulties I had capturing it on camera, DS Magic is a power shifter of a duochrome. Honestly, in direct sunlight it appears a sparkling royal blue but take it away from the sun and put it underneath any incandescent lighting and it is a straight up deep purple metallic gazing ball of a lacquer.
Photos show two coats of DS Magic over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite. DS Magic dries naturally in average time to a smooth shiny finish and the addition of topcoat does give it an extra bit of dimensional glossiness.

As I usually do, I looked through a number of posts about DS Magic before I sat down to write this, and the photos of one in particular caught my eye. Check out the lovely pics in this post by Not Ur Momma's Nails to see some masterful finessing of DS Magic's duochromatic nature on camera.
This polish was made to party. It wants to jump off your nails and consult your social calendar ASAP. And there better be some good stuff on there too! The strong duochrome makes it more interesting than a regular blue shimmer, plus the fact that it's glass fleck shimmer and gives you that lovely speckled dimensional foily look we all love so well (don't we?) makes it wonderful eye candy as well. The gorgeous jewel-toned royal blue color doesn't hurt either, no sir.
