Emily de Molly Studded Jeans

Due to international shipping regulations regarding volatile materials, it's sometimes difficult to get hold of non-North American made indie polishes here. Such is the case with Emily de Molly, an Australian indie polish maker with a devoted global following. Hayley, the owner and creative force behind Emily de Molly, is well-loved for her brilliant formulary skills, her creativity and innovation, her wonderful line of holo polishes and spectacular tour de force glitter polishes.

Emily de Molly doesn't ship internationally and the only distributor I know of in the US is Llarowe, so imagine my covet response when I happened across Studded Jeans while scrolling through polishes on ebay recently. Could someone possibly be destashing this beauty? Long have I had this on my wish list and I was giddy and slavering to see such a rare bird listed for auction. I bid the minimum and believe it or not won the auction! Fortuna spins the wheel, and every once in a while she smiles as she does so. Happy day!

Studded Jeans is a medium-dark denim blue creme with a bit of dustiness to it, sprinkled with a modicum of small holographic gold hex glitters and shardy golden shimmers. It is fluid and wonderfully easy to work with. The first coat was a bit sheer and streaky and I began to assume that three coats would be necessary. Not so! With the second coat, the coloring filled out and became completely opaque. Likewise, the gold holo hexes dispersed without fuss evenly and randomly across the nail. Studded Jeans dries naturally to a smooth shiny finish. When the application of a polish is such a delight, how can you help but love it?

Photos show two coats of Studded Jeans over Seche Rebuild and Butter London Nail Foundation plus a topcoat of Seche Vite to hasten the drying process and keep the dent gremlins at bay.

Love it! It's just exactly what I'd hoped it would be, a lovely soothing everyday kind of polish with a kiss of sparkle, the kind of polish that goes anywhere with anything and is happy to do so. A polish with heart.

Kind of like you, Eleanor! You have a lot of heart, much more than I ever had at your age and more than I have now, and I really love that in you. You're my hero!

love,
Aunt Liz

  1. I've always been curious of this shade and I'm glad too have finally seen a swatch. This is really pretty! The glitter really adds character to this dusty blue.

    1. I just love this one, but I'm partial to blues. I'm glad you like it! I believe, from what I've seen, that it's fairly low-key for this brand. I would love to try some of her other polishes.
