Butter London Scuppered

I've finally fallen for a foil. (Say that really fast five times. *lol*)

It's Scuppered by Butter London. Scuppered is a metallic foil polish, the first foil that I've tried that I can say I love. The color kind of looks like what I think of when I think of the color of gingerbread. It comes from multitudinous teensy bronzy coppery goldeny microglitter in a formula that applies very smoothly, leaves no brushstrokes, and dries to a silky smooth finish with little sparks that twinkle and glimmer in the light. This lacquer is stylin', smoothly festive and very cool.

In addition to the metallic coppery color, it also contains healthy portions of sparkling fuchsia and bright green microglitter PLUS a smattering of slightly larger (but still tiny) bright green hex glitter. This brilliant glitter combination creates complexity and visual interest that a straight metallic would not have. Plus it's just, you know, really cool.

The one small issue with Scuppered (and it's not really with the polish, it's with my nails) is that, like any highly reflective polish, any flaws in the nail bed show like all get out. As you found out when I was there I have some major dents in my nail beds from improper use of metal cuticle care implements. Well you get to see all of these in the pics, plus the visible furrows of my himalayan nail ridges as well. Fun times bring a date... NOT. But honestly, I find this polish to be so deeply cool that I've found myself not really caring about these imperfections. Highly unusual, worthy of note!

Thanks to tropical storm Andrea it has been pouring rain to no end here going on day two. The skylight in my bathroom allows for adequate light to photograph sans (without) flash but I so wanted the bright indirect light that I get in there on a sunny day to photograph this. Not to be. Sigh. I took just enough pics to represent, as they say. Be sure to click and view the enlargements to best see the true anatomy of this fun and fabulous polish. Did I mention how cool it is? I did? Ok.

So, Eleanor, you gotta love this if only for the beauteous green glitters it displays, no? Scuppered gives me hope that there are other foils out there that I can love and that will love me back. And I can only guess that I will probably be feeling even more adventurous about finding them when the dents in my nail beds grow out. That is, if I can prevent myself from making further bad decisions about caring for my fingernail environs in the meantime.

But one GOOD nail care decision that I made while visiting you was during our trip to Sally's when I bought some NailTek II Intensive Therapy treatment to use as a basecoat. Of course I haven't been using it long enough to where I can point to a particular thing and say, see look it's working. But it FEELS like it is and I like that. If I feel like I'm taking better care of myself or my parts, the world just seems like a more enjoyable place generally. Attitude may not be everything, but it'll certainly take you a good long way.

Shalom!

love,
Aunt Liz
